I picked up an '89 4runner for 370 bucks. The guy had wired up the jumpers wrong and left it where it was. I changed some fuses and she is running again. The guy has obviously done alot of tinkering to the car from the looks of the engine bay. I can't seem to find the terminal to this wire can anybody help me out?

 

Need a better picture. Also, the color of the wires going into the plug can help identify it.

 

it's for an EGR temp sensor, which you're truck does not have (the EGR valve, or rather the point where the sensor would be on it, is visable in your pic)

not all 22re's have the sensor; I believe it's a Cali emmissions thing

just bundle it up and wrap some electrical tape around it and tuck it away

Ok good deal. Thanks for the help. I've been having an idle issue. It will idle fine when its cold but once its warmed up, every time the clutch is out it will die. And it wont give me any DTC's off of the computer. It says there aren't any. Could this be the ETC sensor malfunctioning, keeping it in open loop off the O2 sensor? I'm not very familiar with these engines yet.

 

sounds like the IACV to me


IACV = Idle Air Control Valve, in case you didn't know

 

Thanks for the tip iamsuperbleeder now it will idle. She likes to idle high before it warms up now.
