Coolant leak at rear of engine (22RE)

I've been chasing a coolant leak at the back of the 22RE engine for years. Sometimes it leaks, and sometimes not. I recently pulled it into the garage (2 minutes of operation) and after a couple days there was a puddle (1-2tbsp???) of coolant from having dripped off of the transmission bell housing. Garage is unheated, and was mostly around 48-55degF. Today I ran it in the garage for about 30 minutes, and no drips. Four hours later and no drips.
Ideas of where to look?

I'll check again in a couple days to see if anything feels wet, but it's tough to get a large hand in that area.

See pics using a UV light.

you might look at the back side of the block/head, where the egr cooler/bypass is. also in the photo is one of the freeze plugs at the rear of the block - it's inside the bellhousing when "mounted", so not fun to get at/replace if that's the source.

x2 on the egr junk. Common leak point. Buy a delete kit and get rid of it.

If it's the " egr cooler/bypass", how easy is it to remove-and-replace that with the engine in the truck?

@keycw this is a California truck, so deletion isn't an option.

The bizarre part (to me) is that it doesn't leak all the time, but it definitely leaks sometimes. Running a good half hour or more in the garage -- no leaks. Two minute drive to pull it into the garage and let it sit two days -- a couple tbsp of drips.
Overall coolant loss has been a 24oz in the last year over about 1,500 miles.

Apologies for creating another thread on my same topic: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...e-22re-318276/

Debugging continues. Doing a coolant system pressure test, it seems to hold. At least as well as the $40 pressure test kit can confirm.

i did my delete, which would be the same work really, with the engine in. HOWEVER i did have the transmission out..lol. im not sure you can get to the back with the engine still in the truck. maybe if you already have done one before and you are familiar with the job. its pretty tight back there.
