The temp gauge has stayed consistent and hasn't moved or done anything out of the ordinary. And this may be a stupid question but i'm asuming if my coolant has combustion gasses then that indicates a bad head gasket? Because my oil level hasn't raised and my coolant level doesn't seem to lower other than what gets spit out

 

With a bad HG you will smell an unmistakeable sweet smell accompanied with some white smoke. Maybe stand by the tailpipe at first start of the day while one of your buddys fires it up.

If you're loosing coolant not from a HG, it could be a radiator hose or heater hose issue. The pipes get pretty corroded over the years, which can break some seals. Go through the whole system just to be sure, right after you take it for a little drive so the small leaks are spottable.

If you have a bad HG it doesn't necessarily mean that it will be running hot, so don't depend on the coolant gauge to tell you if this is the case.

Like Gnarly was saying, it sounds like the coolant system is not sealed. You will hear air bubbles in your heater core, and also the idle will be a little rougher at startups.

One more worthless point, its either a hole in the rad, leak in a hose, or a HG. You could have a small HG leak that will get worse. Mine would blow and seal up after warmed up, and some days not leak at all. Still you don't want to be driving it if this is the case, so try to see if its anything besides the HG that could be a culprit.

Sounds like a blown HG. Mine has been doing this for about 20K. No water in the oil, no white smoke. I just have to add water every now and then. Its not my DD so I am just waiting for it to blow and then I will replace it.. I am too busy upgrading in other areas..

 

Well I did a compression check and all of my cylinders were at about 190 except one that was at about 120 and I had water on my spark plugs so I think that's pretty much a dead give away of a blown head gasket am I right?
