Contemplating a cab swap this summer...

I have a SWB and I'm thinking of swapping over to an X-cab on the short wheel base chassis. I'm lookin for some info before I get serious about this.

1. What technical issues should I be looking out for?

2. Any fame mount differences? Will I need to fab up some mounts?

3. I'm in Canada and I'd like to get as complete as possible a cab that is totally rust free. Anyone have some pointers for something from AZ, TX, CA etc?

measurements for each chassis is in the factory service manuals, I would study the differences in the frame. http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/

depends how good your fab skills are, you would have to move cab mounts and bed mounts as well as bob the bed.

yea I think I'll just do a flatbed for now.

From the FSM it looks like I would only need to move the rear cab mounts back about a foot or so. That should be easy enough.

I guess I should to a body lift but cutting the cab may be a better idea. I don't plan on using the rear seats anyhow I just wanna be able to stretch my legs and have some storage.
