I've searched like crazy and can't find the thread, so I'm going to ask. Some time ago someone posted that they replaced the lid on their first gen console with one they got at a salvage yard. I want to say it was from an Audi maybe? Anyway, it was wider, thicker and padded, and it worked nicely with the factory console. Does anyone remember this thread?

And before it's said, yes I know you can make anything work. Heck I could fab one from a 2010 F-250 King Ranch if I wanted, but I'd like to find the thread on the one I'm talking about because it worked out really nicely.

 

Years ago I just "re stuffed" mine.

There are screws on the bottom of the lid - remove those, remove the foam and fabric, and then get some replacement at a local fabric store...cut to fit, and put it all back.

Though it's gotten saggy in its old age since then....

The end product is at the end. Just make a new lid and get it upholstered.
