I assume you read the thread you cited; did you do any of the tests suggested in that thread? What results did you get? Code 12 (you know, you don't have to make us look it up for you ...) suggests something wrong in the distributor sense circuits.

(PS Try to get "I'm unsure what I need to replace" out of your head. You need to find the problem. Then you'll know if you "need to replace" something, or do something completely different.)
