Can someone confirm whether I need to split the case on my 4wd 3.0 excab?

Thanks. Looks like I just need to drop the tranny.

Any idea how many hours I'm looking at on average?

 

Also, I searched for a few hours on here, and I saw that one dude had an issue where the fork was rubbing on the housing or something and making a lot of noise. I think I have that going on too... It's annoying. What can I do while in there to prevent this?

Took me 10 hours to change the clutch and associated bearings on my 93 V6 4runner. I also swapped the master and slave cylinders while I was at it. I did NOT get the flywheel resurfaced. Previous owner sucked at driving stick... premature friction material wear. :/

I worked at a steady pace, with probably about 1.5hrs total of breaks for coffee and food. Definitely rent a transmission jack! It's a PITA to line that sucker back up... and heavy if you keep the tranny and transfer case together.

Just be patient. It's not hard, just... vexing at times.

 

You can`t really compare times it will take as long as it does.

If this is your first one plan on a whole weekend.

Do you have impacts to speed things up?

Two floor jacks to raise and lower things independent of each other ?

The long extensions to get the top bell housing bolts??

Are you by yourself?? sometimes better then clueless help.

Know that once your trans and transfercase comes out of the splines it is going to twist towards the front drive shaft.

Time for new clutch Hydraulics ?? New Trans mount?

Ready for broken and stripped bolts.
