Clutch Pressure Line
So my clutch master cylinder went and I decided to replace it along with my slave cylinder. I have the master cylinder done but not the slave just yet. All the fittings going into it are very rusty, the bleeder bolt and the fitting from the line. I tried to turn them and they seemed as if they would end up being very stripped. What should I do?
1) Just leave the old slave cylinder and use grip pliers to somehow get the bleeder bolt to bleed the system.
2) Undo the hardline from the hose about 10" higher than the slave cylinder, and replace the entire thing including the hardline.
- How do I do hardline, is it easy, only a 10" portion?
- Or can I just replace the hardline with a softer line like a ss line or something?
3) I got no other Ideas, help me out here.
Please help me quick as my family is in a bind and we lost one car and are down to this and one other car total for 5 people that work.
Thanks,
AK

replacing the hardline with a soft line would result in a very spongy pedal.
are you using a good flare wrench? 9 times out of 10, they'll be able to take a siezed fitting off while a regular wrench will strip it out.

I ended up just using grip pliers and cranking it. It is good enough to bleed the system. The bleeder bolt did end up being pretty bunged up but it works. All is good now and I am going to leave the slave cylinder as is. There is too much rust out here in new england!
Thanks for the help guys,
AK
Also what are these flair wrenches? Are they the ones that just grab the bolt at a different spot? I should seriously invest in these things!
