ok i have a 93 4wd 5 speed with 242k on a 3.0. i have looked and cant really seem to find how to fix this problem. ok i was driving down the road after i adjusted my clutch pedal rod outwards because i was having trouble shifting into gears. it was doing alot better, then i was almost home and when i pushed in my clutch.....SNAP.... i didnt know what it was but then i realized i had no clutch.... I finally got home after some tricky shifting, i inspected under the dash, which is where the sound came from, and seen where it looked like a bracket on the fire wall broke.

I seen where u could a bracket on here, but im not sure if they mean the same bracket. my pedal gives to the right. I can push it with my foot and it go to the floor, but it gives so much it wont even push in the start button sensor..

Does anybody know how to fix this?

 

common toyota problem. clamp it together how its supposed to sit, and weld it up.

Just follow good safe work practices and you will be fine. If you are not willing to take the risk there are some truly strong epoxy based solutions and if you put a fish plate in as well I do not know if you could tell the difference.

 

Keep a fire extinguisher nearby and strike an arc. No guts, no glory! =)

 

Or unbolt the 3 bolts that hold it and the master on, and weld it outside of your truck.

 

i made a bracket and bolted it where the clutch pedal stop screw is over to a bolt on the left side on the body. im going to weld the crack also as it still gives at the back even tho the bracket holds the whole thing secure.

How do you fix the binding of the little silver cylinder piece that attaches to your pedal and it screws onto the firewall rod? it should be straight but when i push in the pedal it gives up or usually down which causes the rod to be pushed in at an angle and not as far as it should be. any idea of what im talking about?

Not that hard to remove it, guys. I did it with relative ease in 0* weather in a mall parking lot for my buddy and only on a few hours of sleep. (worked nights back then)

Yes, and if you go through a decent dealer, they won't kill you on the price.

 

What he said!! I welded mine back together, and had a nifty lil fire blazing when I was done... my extinguisher was not handy, but... I always have beer when working on my truck... I hated to waste my beer, but I really didnt wanna loose the truck...lol

 

People sell the brackets on ebay for not too much. I bought an assembly with the pedals for about $50 with the pedals when i did my 5 speed swap.

 

Thanks, I made a bracket to hold the main bracket steady. I also welded the crack up to. So its all sturdy and I hope it holds.

I still have that binding issue on the back of my pedal like in the pic
