Clockspring / modern steering wheel swap?

So I've built a functioning prototype transmission / fan controller for my 86 4Runner and am at the point where I would like to install paddle shifters. Problem being that there is no clock spring on these early years that iI know of, so getting the shift signal off the steering wheel is presenting an issue.

Has anyone installed one / know of one that will bolt up, or even fir for that matter, or done a steering wheel swap for one with wheel mounted controls?

I was planning on keeping the factory steering wheel and just adding a clock spring, bit would love a modern wheel with stereo controls or something so that I could use those buttons to navigate the menu and change setting on my fan controller all from the wheel as well.
