climate control light

The illumination behind my climate controls in my dash went out today. Just wondering how hard it is to install the light(s). Pretty clueless on this one so any help is appreciated

pull off the knobs, then pull off the face starting at the passenger side. the bulb is small and can be pulled right out.

Very easy to get to the bulb.

remove dial knobs
pry off the little faceplate, I used my truck key
It will take out your AC switch (if you have it)
Then take off the little peice that spreads the light
Take off the bulb condom
and take out the bulb.

yeah i was kinda thinkin about changin the bulb color or somethin just for little extra touch. Does the bulb make it that color or is it the tint of the plastic on the faceplate

it can be the faceplate and sometimes the little jimmy condom adds to the colour emitted. check when pulling the bulb as some are those ones with the base that you need to turn. not sure how its set up for the 92, but just as a word of caution.

Mine's been out since I've owned the truck, so this is good advice. I have the HVAC panel memorized by touch, but I might still toss a bulb in there.

Shaeff, how much of a project was it to do all of that? My truck is black but I've been kinda keepin an inconspicious red theme goin, too (hubs, shock boots, decals, etc.) All red for the most part. I think that changing all of the interior lights from that ugly dim green to red. What kind of work was involved?

Also along these same lines, tonight I noticed something wierd. I shut off my truck with the lights still on, and when I did that the audio control lighting all went out, except for the volume knob light. When I put the key back in the 'ON' position (I didn't actuallt start the truck) the lights came back on. So, with the exception of the volume knob, the audio lights only illuminate with the ignition in that position. Once I turned off the lights, they all did go off like they should. Any rhyme or reason behind this?

it's really not difficult to do. it's as easy as pulling the cluster. the led's i got were from www.superbrightleds.com. they're the 5angle pieces.
