Clicking when gas is pressed

So 2 days ago the truck started without an issue. Then yesterday I changed the water pump and today I finnished putting everything back together. Go to start it up to check for leaks and it just keeps cranking and cranking and cranking and cranking then when I try and give it some gas something starts clicking. But only when the gas is pressed. And theres no sign of gas at all, like I cant even smell any gas during all of this. What can it be? I just hope its not the fuel pump. I just hope I forgot to connect something again.

Number one question, what engine/ truck do you have?

Does it sound like the starter is getting enough power? (ie sounding slow)

On a 22R, there really shouldn't be anything you could forget on a water pump that would alter fuel delivery. Did you disconnect the battery? I bet the ground or something is not secure on the battery. Everything else relating to a water pump would allow the truck to start, but maybe not keep it cool... or make a belt squeal. I would check the battery connections.

Ahh yes sorry about that. Definatly not enough information. Its a 88 pickup 22re. After I did the water pump I remember I had a TPS code a long time ago that was never fixed. So I was going to adress that. First I took off the thermostat housing to see if I could get to the TPS mounting screws that way. No dice. Then decided to just take off the throttle body and adjust it that way. Then part way through I thought oh I should check to see if it is even still throwing a code. But sure enough I forgot which 2 terminals to jump. So I just started putting everything back together, Tried to fire it up nothing. Its cranking perfectly fine just never actually turning over..

Anyone?
Also when I jump the +B and Fp terminals I am suppost to hear fuel running through the fuel filter under the intake mani but I dont hear anything. Like its not even going through there at all...

Im hoping its just something that became disconnected or something. But does some plug in the engine bay or something control the Fuel pump??

Maybe double check your work to see if you hooked everything back up correctly when you put your throttle body back on. Did you disconnect your fuel injectors (assuming it's not carbed) and forget to hook them back up? Check your fuses?

Ive checked and re checked everything. Ill prob go out and do it again. One thing I dont like about these yotas is that they dont have a diagram that tells you which fuses go to what haha

Ok so I got my mom to crank the engine while I tried to find the clicking. Ive traced it to the area of the intake where the air filter is. Is my AFM bad? (or whatever it is that is in there lol) Would it just go out randomly?? Cause no doubt that is where its comming from. I just dont have any time to look at it at the moment. Any replies are greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Your ignitor is right there. Is everything connected to it. is it grounded?

Well I never disconnected anything from over there. And would the ignitor cause there to be no fuel?? I am not exactly sure what the ignitor even looks like or its location??

I believe it is the AFM. Because when it is plugged in it clicks and doesnt start. But when I unplugg it, it still doesnt start but the clicking stops....

Ohm the AFM with a multimeter. Make sure it tests good.

Ok the AFM checks out and everything is in order the way it should be. And correction. with the plug unhooked from the AFm it does still click. Its like the intake isnt sucking enough air to open up the plate in there...

you said that you "unplugged" the AFM, did you take out the two screws ($wrong$way$) and unplug it or did you simply pry off little snap wire and unplug (right way) to expose terminals?? the latter is the correct and less expensive way of fiddling with AFM. Like Wes 94 ssuggested too, make sure that she is grounded...i'm sure it is nothing major. i can picture you startin her up slappin your forehead and smiling at the simplicity of the problem at hand

It was a blown fuse...simple as that. Dang I feel dumb...haha

But I am throwing 2 codes. 51 (TPS) and 52 (knock sensor) atleast I think thats right. It goes 5..1....5..2..
But it doesnt effect driving at all. Like it drives perfectly fine when the CEL comes on after 1k RPM. So should I worry about it??

Also when I checked the TPS it passed all the tests except one. The IDL to E2. Mine was infinate/open when it was suppost to be <2.3K . Does that mean a bad TPS??
