Checking RPM with multimeter?
Hello!
I searched and searched, probably drove right past it, but I’m trying to figure out the correct procedure for using a multimeter to test RPM. Com to ground and red to distributer negative? I’m looking to get a multimeter with an RPM function and just wanting to know the right place for the leads.

thanks!

I've used a meter with tach/dwell/volts. It needed power from the vehicle though so it had pos/neg/tach connectors. I guess you'll need a ground and then you can pick up the tach RPM signal from the IG port next to the under-hood diagnostic port.

That's what my Actron hand held meter says to do on page 11.
