Check this out!!
Picked this thing up today, she sat for 2 1/2 years, and had a rotted fuel line, and both rear brake lines rotted also. I flatened out the brake lines, folded and crimped them serveral times, and replaced the rotted section of fuel line with rubber hose, then drove her 15 miles home.



She rode great all the way home, a little rough from the flat spots in those 33's but still solid. The best part.......this truck was free, I swapped motors on a buddies boat for him, and he handed me the title to this truck 2 days later. I thought I was just doing him a favor.....
What ya guys think???
I'm going to j.c whitney now for repair panels.

now that I look at those pics closer, did your buddy use that truck as an anchor for his boat?

lol. I'm just kidding, but by the looks of it, you're going to be droppin some pretty pennies in that thing just to fix the rust. Hope he comes over to help you work on it.

nice . . . and x2 on the "roll bar" - that thing looks crazy on there, but not good crazy (kinda makes it look like one of those toy cars that you grab the handle on the top, rub it on the floor to get the wheels spinning and let go across the carpet)

lol...ok ok ok, ...the roll bar isnt even attached, he said it went with the truck, I dont like it either. As far as the rust....other than what you see, and all brake/fuel lines...shes tight. It sat for a while, but had about $1,000 in front end work before he put it up. He said he always wanted to get it going again, but he didnt have the $, or know how, and wanted it to go to someone who would fix it. I have a bunch of sheet metal around...so I'm sure I can come up with something.. also...this is going to be a beater truck, to and from work, trails, firewood ..etc...
Guess I should post the stats.....
3vze, 5 spd, 3" body lift, 33" tires, 4.10 posi rear, 219k on the clock. h/g recall at 128k, he has all sorts of paperwork for this thing...it makes my head hurt...I usually only keep 1 paper for my rigs....the title...lol

man good day for you i see good job man lucky as all hecks!!! truck looks good as for a beater i would so keep the roll bar on there i had a old s-10 paid $300 for it in payments had one and would never forget the fun times i had in her to!!!

LOL.... people around here get pissed just to see a lifted yota.... bunch of chevy and ford rednecks up here...lol I am considering sas, if I can find the parts for cheap, I mean real cheap... the wife wont allow me to spend $ on toys right now... r baby is due in dec. and we have a lot to do before then. also she's pissed... I took her runner off the road for some tlc (motor, tranny, and diff swap), so she's stuck driving a 97 intrepid thru winter, while I rock 2 yotas...lol

O....and I may just shorten the roll bar and stick with it. I think itll look sweet when Im done. none of that matters to me...Im just happy to have a locked rear again.

^ lol ^ didnt even know I was making a deal.... he just showed up here one day with the keys and title. good friend indeed. I think I'm gonna get those body repair panels from jc whitney.... and thoughts? Should I just bend my own metal? I do have plenty of sheet metal, grinders, and a mig, and 2 stick welders. Or would it just be easier to get the panels? they are only like $10-20 each. As for tires....anyone know where I can get 33's for cheap?

also....what are thoughts on leaving the rubber fuel line in place? It worked fine all the way home... the way I figure it...if it was gonna leak, it would have done it at startup, and I can always carry more hose, and clamps in the truck incase of a blowout.

I can't help you on the body panels. Me and body work don't get along very well.
I wouldn't feel comfortable with rubber fuel lines under the truck, but I'm a worry wart. You know exactly what you are working with and if you feel ok about it, then maybe they are not as high on the priority list. If they are not leaking, they should be fine, but keep them in mind when you are wheeling hard, you would hate to snag one on something and then have a fire.
I wouldn't feel comfortable with rubber fuel lines under the truck, but I'm a worry wart. You know exactly what you are working with and if you feel ok about it, then maybe they are not as high on the priority list. If they are not leaking, they should be fine, but keep them in mind when you are wheeling hard, you would hate to snag one on something and then have a fire.

man... better get out the wire wheel and start cleaning stuff up... especially that rear axle...
imo, dont worry about the body panels... hack it up... junk the bed, but bolt the tollbar directly to the frame...
hehehe... i like being different... i just dont have to money to do so...
