Check engine light after head gasket repl.

Hello all, new to this forum but have an 87FE non-turbo that I just changed the head gasket on. The check engine light was not on before the need for the new gasket, but now it is on. The engine runs pretty well now, except that it is a little rough around idle and the light, it smooths out with acceleration and at speeds greater than idle. I have checked the timing, it has recent new injectors, and I have replaced all the vacuum hoses with fresh rubber to no avail. Any Ideas?

A paper clip will work or small wire. Jump TE1 and E1 and count the number of flashes and look up the codes. You will need the codes for 85-87. 88 and up use different numbers.

Count the number of flashes? What flashes when you jump the pins?

The check engine light flashes.
You just turn the key on after you connect the jumper. don't start the engine.
To clear the code, just remove the EFI fuse on the mail fuse box.
