My check engine light will come on and stay on for maybe a minute or it may stay on a couple hours and then not come back on for months. Truck runs fine , 25-28 mpg , Idles smooth.. I chalked up as its a 92 model and its just old and the light malfuntions sometimes.. Do you all believe i'm right or could it be something wrong with it

To clear codes, pull the stop fuse out and wait 10 seconds or unhook the battery.
