I really like the Aircraft sound. I remember the day I finaly got the stupid loud exhaust leak fixed on my 92 pickup with the 22re, man I miss that tuck. I heard the fan for the first time and thaught it was awsome. Mmaybe I just associate that sound with a good running truck.

yep an aircraft, but even better than adding power was the 6dB drop in noise @ 30mph, 3krpm - if anyone is intrested, i took a bunch of data points for noise before and after the fan mod, also did a full dynamatt install. but really, the fan sucks maybe 5-7 hp at 3000rpm- it was a noticable difference...

also - synthetic fluids was a good addition.

then just install the Mercury Villager/Nissan Quest fan, when that sucker kicks into the hi-speed....its plenty loud. Just knowing that the fan is not driven off the crank is worth at least 11ty billion HP gain...haha.

my dad has a mild stage 2 rv cam, a 2.25in exhaust high flow cat and flowmaster, has the k&n air filter kit and larger injectors and the truck was tuned. So other then them u can bore it, and build up the block for compression, ( stroker ) and dome pistons. altho not many people put that much into a 22re most do a swap. but my dad is running 35x14.50 boggers with 4.88 and runs 70mph at 3 grand on the high way, he has plenty of power for his truck, not no zippy imma race this honda here power but it has enough for waht it is.

I initially did a Downey Cam, 4-to-1 Headers, K&N filter, and MSD and got a descent bump in performance. I cracked a valve (running too lean) and decided to spring for the LC Engineering EFI Head/Cam, plus the Tri-Y headers and high-flow injectors and the powerband was SO much better. Smoother torque curve and obviously more overall power! Needless to say the head alone was $1K - so not exactly a cheap upgrade - but aside from a complete stroked LC Racing Motor - it was one of the most peppy naturally aspirated 22RE's I had personally seen. Too bad the block is warped and it's been sitting parked for almost a decade! Time for a V6/V8 motor swap

Nudging the MAF's spring a few ticks looser will richen you up somewhat with the tradeoff of less MPG. Advancing the timing a hair can help. Both free mods - but just beware of issues if you take either too far...
