Changed coolant and not overheating

I changed the coolant on my 22r tonight. I bleed it from the block and from the radiator. Refilled it back up and the resivoir and let it sit with high heat. No heat came through the vent and then all of a sudden the temp flew up and the resivoir was bubbling. Thanks for the help !
