Change Starter

I have a 1993 4Runner. I need to change the starter, and I am not a hugely experienced Toyota mechanic. I have removed the small access panel from the wheel well. It doesn't look horrific to do. But it still looks like a pain in the balls. I am not intending on doing this until tomorrow morning. It has what appears to be a engine mount almost in the way. Is this supposed to come out. Or does anyone have any tricks that will make this job easier. It broke down in a parking lot today and I had to beat on the starter until I could get it to start. The Solenoid is definitely working however the starter wouldn't turn. And it was getting full juice. But like I said it looks kinda like a pain in the neck. Any tricks? Thank you.

V6?

Note that you MUST disconnect the battery (wired hot straight to starter).

One bolt comes from the front, the other from the rear, you kinda turn and twist it around to get it out through the access panel. OR you can take off the steering stabilizer and bring it out that way.

Search for more discussion about it.

This may help too:
