celica head in a 4runner?

ok i recently bought an 86 4runner that was not running. the PO had no clue what was wrong and i narrowed it down to just the head gasket. well long story short apon further inspection the head is warped i have a buddy that thinks he can plane it and get it to where it needs to be and he'll do it for free but! my main question is if he cant fix it my uncle has an old celica with a 22re, if i pull the head off of that would it work in my 4runner? thanks in advance guys.

The dome in the head is way bigger so you'll have a lower compression ratio. The deck to cam centerline distance is longer on the older 22RE so you won't be able to stretch the cam chain onto the cam. Those are the two main differences that will cause you problems. There are other differences like exhaust port shape that make them different but I don't know if they would cause a problem. I would shop around for the correct part.

:jessica: Unless you have a machine shop in the garage or basement what it would cost to modify this head it would be cheaper to just buy a head from Engine Builder and be done.

Another option is just pull the complete engine out of the Celica if it runs.

Have you checked the head with a straight edge and found it warped??

it would all depend just how bad it is ??
