CEL Help

Hi guys and girls I need a little help I have a check engine Light code 72.According to the repair manual that is EGR Related issue. So if anybody could point me in the right Direction to start with 1st it be much appreciated
Ps if anybody needs any pictures of anything in the 89 to 96 repair manual let me know and I will gladly help it's the one that you buy from autozone or o'reilly.

What i have done so far
checked the egr valve when i apply vacume to it ot kills the engine
checked for vacume leaks none that stick out to me

Are you sure it is a code 72? From my understanding code 71 is for EGR malfunction. I added a link to the trouble codes and how to check for the proper code. Not saying that the repair manual you have is incorrect, but having more sources to reference is never a bad thing. Also this is for the 3.0, is that what you have or do you have the 22r?

How is the EGR temp sensor? Code 71 was popping up for me and I changed the temp sensor and that did the trick.

Its directly on the EGR Valve.
