CEL code 71 on a non-cali vehicle...
i'm gettin this code but in my haynes manual it says california vehicles only. my question is why i'm gettin this on a non cali vehicle? it is something to do with the EGR system

I get the same thing - never figured out how I can have a problem with my EGR gas temp sensor when I don't even have one. I just pull the EFI fuse and go on my way.

and the goofy thing is that the light only comes on 30% of the time i'm driving

Mine usually comes on after I've been on the highway for awhile, most often uphill, then come into town and let off the gas. Happens more in the summer.
