Battery size for a 22re.

I think I may have found part of the problem with starting the truck. The battery that was in there (new) said 525 CCA on the top and I swapped it out with one that has 800 CCA (about 3 years old) and it turns over a lot faster and starts everytime, so far. This is where I hope that the battery was the issue.

Also wondering about another issue. I pulled the + cable while the rig was running to see if it would die or not (this is how I used to shade-tree diagnose a bad alternator) and I'll be darned if it didn't cough and die as soon as the cable came off the battery. Is this a problem or does the happen to EFI motors when the cable is pulled?

Thanks guys.
