Receiver location?

I have a 1995 4runner factory service manual.... i have a 1990 4runner.... and in the service manual, the closest thing to the remote receiver for the alarm/keyless entry remote that i can find is the door lock relay box..... there is supposed to be a receiver underneath the driverseat (toyota tech) and you press a button with the ign. on and you can teach it a new remote. It isn't there. Does anyone know where the location of the receiver is on a 1990 4runner with the factory toyota vehicle security system (T.V.S.S.)??????????????????????

You sure it is an OEM security system?

Yes, it has a rocker switch, pressing left stays on for horn defeat, and pressing it to the right for valet, i take back the factory part, because it might just be a dealer installed unit. It uses the empty space next to the no clutch start button manuals have. It says toyota right on it...

If there is nothing under the drivers seat (where its supposed to be) check under the dash, drivers side. Trace the wiring from the dash switch and see where it goes. Btw, 1990 and 1995 systems are totally different

If it has a valet setting, it might have a remote start function as well.

Like others have said, I don't think it's factory.

Yes, it is indeed factory. Valet setting does not mean remote start. Valet mode basically bypasses the alarm.
