For the life of me cant get this thing undone. It goes from the trans up to the engine bay. 90 4runner 4x4 auto. Its the white and blue one. Feel free to make me look like an idiot if you know the trick to undo it.

I assume you've already found the little thing to press with your thumb, and you've already worn a divot therein, without success.

I'd suggest using a hair-dryer to warm up the connector. Plastic gets stiffer with age, and softening it every-so-much can help. You can use a heat gun, but put your hand on the fitting -- if it's too hot for your hand, stop. Also, push the connector together, then press the little tab and try to pull it apart. You could have jammed it.

Wonderful i will give that a try and see if it helps. Hopefully it does...then on to the next headache. Poor old girl has been sitting for months

Hose grip pliers work very well for connectors. One tip of the pliers pushes in the tab and both work to pull it out. It saves both your knuckles and fingertips.

I'm not familiar with this specific harness plug, but ocasionally there is a plug where the tab must be pulled OUT to release rather than depressed. I hate those.

Can't find my pictures. I use silicone spray, to loosen up the gunk and lubricate the rubber o-ring. Cinch a pair of locking pliers on each side and gently rock & twist until it frees up, applying more lube until in runs out clear.

Another handy gadget is an ice pick, awl, small screw driver, or even a safety pin wedged into the locking clip to keep it unlocked.

You always need to be careful with these stuck clips. One bad slip and you yank on the wires which could pull out.
