Can I install lockouts?
I got a 91 toyota pickup 4x4 and I was wondering how hard is it to install lockouts and what all do I need. All it has now is the 0late that keeps it locked all the time. I drive this thing alot amd dont use 4x4 alot so I wanna be able to unlock it like I can my power stroke so stuff isint spinning all the time.

I bought new gaskets from the dealership..cost less than $4..small metric socket set..there is a link that I found on the net but I don't have it at my disposal right now to send you. the only thing that you probably need to do is lock the drive shaft I haven't done that yet..there's pictures on here somewhere of someone doing it with a post clamp that is probably the process I will use.

sorry I'm doing this on my phone. I meant hose clamp. :-) if you look around on here enough you will find the answers you need.
I put a Aisin hubs on mine and was able to reuse all the old hardware including the cone washers.

this is what you're looking for, you've already found it - read up. there is a lot of info about this floating the web, and several of them are good writeups with pics. i'd even guess you can find info on youtube. is your friend with most info on these trucks since people have been modding them for the past 30yrs.

Right now your truck has a solid steel hub instead of a multi-piece manual hub. Unbolt the old ones, maybe repack your bearings if you have the time to, and install the manual hubs as the other write-ups say. I swapped mine to Asin hubs in my college parking lot after cleaning and greasing them. Can't remember the exact procedure off of the top of my head, but it was simple. Make sure you look up how to disassemble and reassemble the hubs.
Eliminating the vacuum system to engage the front axle will make it that much more reliable, but it'll work just fine if you don't. I haven't yet.

kinda like having the best of both. i have both and like it. i run a lunchbox in the front and sometimes its nice to disengage one wheel for turning or tracking. the ADD isnt stock for my truck, i added the diff because it had 4.88s in it. its controled by 3 vacumm lines i plumbed into my cab. one for engage and one for disengage the other is vac source that i switch from hose to hose to operate the system, very primitive but effective and cheap. i also added a lite to the dash hooked it to the switch on the diff so i know its engaged.
