Cam Shaft positioning
Ok going to put my heads back on my 89 pu 3L and I noticed I'm not sure which way the cams were in when I took them out. I do not meen end for end, I mean as far as rotational. There are 3 ways they can sit in the heads. It says nothing in the FSM about this, either for installation or removal. Wouldn't it make a HUGE difference? really scratching my head..

Yes it makes a difference!!!!
The cams have marks on the sproket and there are markes on the top of the backplate, line those up.
The mark for the crank is on the lower belt sproket and it lines up with a mark on the oilpump, This should all be TDC.
Cant belive thats not in the FSM when its in my crappy Haynes.

The cam sprocket can only be put on the cam one way. Initial installation of the cam into the head does not matter. He will line everything up later, when he's timing it.
