A/C problem

I have a 93 4runner that the A/C was working fine till one day I stopped at a store and killed the engine, once I got back in and started the engine the A/C would not blow cold, the compressor kicks in and if you put guages on it the pressure keeps building up, so I have to keep the A/C off due to the fear of blowing something up. I would be thankful for any help or recomendation given.

Does it build up to, then go past normal values? Could be your expansion valve down in with the evaporator. A high pressure reading sometimes comes from a lack of good airflow across the condensor- does your aux A/C fan work?

Hah!

The same thing just happened to me 3 weeks ago.

Though its getting cold right now and there is no real reason for A/C. Thank god...I have about 4 months to get around to it
