You have to get the valve from AutoZone. All the others I looked at were not right. Buy their fitting, then get a valve core remover, remove your existing valve core, and then put the valve from AutoZone on it.

I just did this and the kits that are made to go over your existing valve stem cause it to leak. If you use the kit I mentioned (it says Quest - made by EF Products), you shouldn't have any trouble. I just did mine and it is working perfectly.

I need to do this to my truck. What all is involved in doing this and what else needs to be replaced? Is there a kit? Just a couple of questions I haven't searched just seen the thread.

A/C conversion/refill port location 92 3.0 3vze 4runner

I can't for the life of me find the A/C service ports on the 1992 2nd gen 4runner. Anyone who knows where the high and low a/c service ports are located, a picture with an arrow would be very appreciated!
barring that, a detailed explanation of how to find them would be great.
I heard that they are on the passenger side somewhere, my buddy told me "below the power steering pump"...and I looked for a long time (from above and below) but can't seem to find anything.
Thanks in advance-
TW

This is from my '91 3.0 Truck. I would think yours is the same, but I haven't worked on a 4Runner.

Passenger side, against the firewall.

Here they are labeled:

NO room to move in there! (4runner A/C input/output

Jeff-
you were right, after seeing your photo, I was able to zero in on both the input/output valves. Thanks a lot for that.
Now, I have another problem. The low pressure service port is SO wedged in that there is no way that I can fit a charger to it. I tried for quite some time but it is totally jammed in there. Is there another way that I can get a charger nozzle over it, any advice from someone who has successfully charged their 3.0L 'runner a/c would be great. thanks

What are you trying to use? If you just want to add refrigerant, use something like this:

It is a tight fit, but it will work.

That is the exact bottle I had. I had to bend some pipes out of the way but it finally worked. turns out I had a leak too, I got some dye and put it in, sealed leaks, put a new tube, adjusted a/c idle, and presto! cold air.
saved myself severl hundred $ thanks to your help. appreciate it!!!!!!!
how is new orleans now, pretty wet still? we love bourbon street.
