Thanks, I ended up wrapping each end with a cotton rag, then plastic wrap, and then another cotton rag. Hopefully that will keep the moisture out for a week and hopefully the Denso tech can recommend the actual replacement compressor now that I gave him the part number. The compressor was an original R134a unit so not sure why Denso doesn't seem to have an exact fit.



As it turns out, removing the compressor is easier than removing/installing the dryer. I haven't replaced it yet because of the difficulties with the compressor, but it requires near complete removal of the plastic grill and side lights to get to it, and although I had it off most off in anticipation, the plastic retainers snapped off. It still holds adequately because of the attachment to the side lights and the fact the edges rest under the vehicle side panels, but what a pain.
