You can try the classified ad section here for that part. Other than a Dealer or breaker you don't have a lot of options.

I can't look up that fuse in my wiring book a right now, but it's one of the usual locations relay block #1 or #2, in the right side kick panel or behind the lower center console.

You'll want to look for the electrical wiring diagram (EWD) book for the 1990-1995 4runner. It's in the same package/file as the digital FSM.

i think i may have a similar issues with my 90 4runner.

engine completely died and a local shop swapped in a new 3vze. but the truck sat for close to a year (no job = ).

got the truck back but since it was around december, i never really tested everything.

FF a few months later. i now have a dog and tried the AC. nothing. switch on dash lights up. shop that did engine swap converted to R134 but still cant make it work.

the mechanic said if he applied 12 volts to this wire (i forget which...) everything works and very cold air blows out. he says something else is wrong behind the glove box. i aint an HVAC guy so everything he said flew over my head.

all he said to TEMPORARILY make it work is turn on AC and apply 12 volts to the wire. so i had him tap into the line and i ran the wire into the cab. i got an cig lighter plug and wired the +12 volts to a TEMP switch.

now, if i want cold air, i turn on the AC switch and flip the TEMP switch. cold air comes out. to turn off, i flip off the TEMP switch and then turn off the AC switch...

am i killing my system?

Well, I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought an A/C Amplifier from the dealer. I have a buddy that works there and was able to get it to me for $63. A worthwhile gamble for me. I should be able to have it installed before the week is out. I'll keep y'all posted.

Idivinag: I did just as your mechanic did to make sure the major components are working. You are running a risk by bypassing the A/C Amplifier as it is responsible for controlling fail safe conditions.

Something to keep in mind if you plan on keeping your current A/C Control setup, is that you should install a couple of relays so you don't burn up your A/C Switch. Your local autoparts store will have automotive relays for around $15 ea. They can be had cheaper online. You'll want to install one between your A/C Switch and the compressor wire. If your Aux fans don't turn on with that method, then you'll need to install a second relay between your A/C Switch and your Aux fans. This will save your A/C Switch and barring any catastrophic A/C Failures, will last for quite some time. That said, I recommend a factory repair over this method.

By R&R I assume you mean: Remove & Replace. If so, yes. There are no calibrations needed. There is an adjustable voltage regulator; but, it comes preset. If you get one, don't go turning the little black protruding knob and ask yourself "I wonder what this is?"

Not that you'd do that; but, to anyone else reading...

Or...maybe you meant Rest & Relaxation...?

Anybody ever had the clutch on the a/c compressor get worn out? I believe I have good refrigerant levels, and wires are still good. It's just when I turn on the A/C the compressor clutch whines like a tired old lady and the drive belt only turns the compressor a little bit at a time like the clutch isn't fully engaging.

That's what my 87's compressor does at idle. It partially engages and makes a tortured cat kind of sound; but, it does fully engage and blow cold. When it engages, there is no whine. I plan on running mine till it dies.

I installed the new A/C Amplifier, and....................still no A/C.

So, I started over with the troubleshooting. In retracing my steps, I found conflicting data on the A/C Switch pinout. One source said pins 4>5 are the switch pins and another source said that pins 5>6 are the switch. Anyone have accurate data there?

I decided to go on and verify proper operation of all A/C related relays. All were good.
