A/C from 92 to an 87
I have a 92 22RE 2WD pickup with a working A/C. Last year I bought an 87 4Runner 5sp 22RE without A/C. Can I get the A/C swapped from the 92 to the 87? Is there anything I would have to buy to make it fit?

The two trucks are from two different generations of Toyota trucks so I would "guess" no. However, you can maybe look up the part numbers of the A/C housings and compare??
Years ago, I bought a factory A/C kit for my 87 pickup without A/C. The non A/C unit was basically the same, it just had a spacer in place where the A/C section would go. I just had to swap in the evaporator housing, plug in the connector with the A/C button as well and the dash part was done.
Then I had to put holes in the firewall for the lines. The location was stamped in and obvious. It just didn't get punched through at the factory. The kit came with everything, Compressor and bracket, belt, lines, dryer, condenser. It was plug and play. Just needed oil and refrigerant. Might have came with oil?
The bodies of your two trucks are different so I don't know if you can just swap it over. Maybe some of it will fit? How much work are you willing to do?
I would think the A/C bracket and compressor will swap over. Maybe even the condenser. If the box fits in the cab ,that would be the biggest concern. You could probably figure out wiring and custom hoses can be made if needed.
I put a 3.4 in my 88 and used everything on my 88 except the compressor and hoses. I had to cut the hoses off the aluminum fittings to have hoses made to connect the 99 3.4 compressor to the 88 truck fittings. I also had to modify the A/C amplifier to work with the 99 4Runner ECM .because the computer turns on the clutch and idles up the engine instead of the vacuum switches on the 22RE.
I have the A/C system from an 86 in my shed if you can't find the parts you need. They are "as pulled" so you would need to clean, seal or whatever is needed. The housings are good. If I were to put them in service I would put in a new evaporator and expansion valve. PM me if you need the evap housing. I can send pics and probably put in a flat rate box.

I figured. I knew there were slight variations in the 22re from year to year. And of course a totally different generation of truck. I think I will just leave the A/C in the 92 truck.there is a guy on eBay that I have bought many parts from that has a complete A/C system for an 84-89. I think I will just get that. I am not much use under the hood. I have been doing all the rust removal, carpet swap type stuff. My brother was the mechanic in the family. I goy a quote from Toyonlyswaps on a 3.4 conversion, but for right now the 22re that came I. It is strong and there is still a lot of body work I want to get done. But I live in Arkansas, so Ido NOT want to go another year without A/C. appreciate you replying.
