He's not even replied yet, guy. Translation....no decision he's made. Thing is, it is still being suggested he get it checked. If it checks fine, what's the problem?

THOOK...you can't compare fire to welding...Sure welding is SUPER hot,but when welding sheet metal or on an axle you do spot welds or stich welds. Its not a constant heat. You do a little hear, go to the other side and do a little...go back to the other side, so on and so forth. This keeps the metal from warping, buy only heating a small section and letting it cool before you weld near that section again. Welding/fire are diffeant all together

I had a BMX frame (a Standard STA for those that know BMX; thin wall 4130 chromoly- very heat sensitive) that was in the back seat of my buddies VW bug when it burned to the ground. I went with him to the tow yard to see what was left; lo and behold it was still sitting there on what was left of the backseat springs, all the paint was burned off. The bug looked much worse than that truck, the magnesium block went up and melted the whole back end of the car. I had the frame sandblasted and powdercoated, then sold it to friend who rode it for years afterwards. No cracks, not a single problem.
Heat travels up and the axle was under the truck, I really doubt there's anything wrong with it other than the soft parts needing replacement. What warps housings when being welded is the uneven, intense heat. I would run it.
edit- I just looked at the pics again- the tires are still there! And they look like they're still holding air. I don't think it got that hot.

what is he wanting for it? if you can get it for cheap id take it for the axel then sell the rest for parts and scrap metal. And i dont think there are enough combustables to sustain a fire hot enough, long enough to warp the axels
