Buick 215 ci/3.5l V8?
I don't know if anyone has ever used this engine, but it's an attractive alternate to the 3vze and weighs less. I've been considering it as an option....looks like you can get 300 hp out of it pretty easily..

That engine was also adopted by Rover and used for a very long time.

The one bad thing I see is that many of them don't have specs much better than a 3VZE, however they do appear to respond well to modifications.
