bucket seats...

I have a 1988 reg. cab 4x4 and I'm curious if anyone has swapped in bucket seats from another car into this generation truck with no modification, if so what car/truck did you take the seats out of?

I had a buddy swap in tacoma seats with little or no mods to his 84 xtra cab. I've saved a set of seat rails from an 86, hoping to find a set of seas I really like. All you really need is a drill to mount toyota rails to another make's brackets.

Did you even do a search? So far there is no direct bolt on (all 4 mounting points) from another car they have to be modified or there is one guy installed a set of seat from a Kia I think but only 3 mounting points worked/close and the seat is really tall, you best bet is to do alot of searching online on CL and ebay and salvage yards there are more 4-Runners seats than truck seats for the SR-5 type truck seats and that the drivers seat is not all tore up or left out in the elements. Good Luck, you'll need it :}LOL

If you can find a set of Recaro seat brackets for your truck; they bolt directly in. You then can install almost any seat that you want because they have wide top mounting plates. You can also have mounting brackets fabricated similar to the Recaros.

Get seats from a mid 90's integra. That is what i swapped into my truck, and they fit great! The only thing that had to be done was to bend the stock rear brackets and widen the stock front brackets and it will fit just fine.

I'll prolly end up going to a local pull-a-part or CL and getting either integra or 4runner buckets. Thanks for the help!

I'm going to have to get a set of buckets for my 84 soon. I hate bench seats, but the one I have is actually really comfortable, but I think I should get something that sits a little lower because my head is only an inch from my headliner.

I agree, I'm 6 foot 3, so I need something low that will sit against the back. I have my bench pinned back right now
