Broken Timing belt help

I just bought a 92 4runner V6 w/ 104k and it lost power on the interstate going up a hill and started losing power and the truck would not downshift. All of a sudden... POP. Got the truck to a mechanic and he said the timing belt broke and he needed to put a new one on to see if there was any damage. Next day, he installed the belt and called me saying the cylinders are not holding pressure and I most likely bent valves. Either way, he doesnt want to get into it and suggested I send it to Toyota dealer.

I thought the V6 was a non-interference engine and breaking the timing belt wouldnt cause damage.

Before I go and bring it back to my house, I would like to get some information from you guys.

Is it a non-interference engine?
If it isnt, is it possible the valves damaged the pistons?
Any idea what else could be damaged?

Thanks a bunch for the help.

Thanks Elton for the quick response.

I was thinking the gasket could be a posibility as well. Looks like I will dig into it this weekend. Just hope the bottom end is intact as well as the cam and valvetrain.
