Brand spankin new California SMOG legal exhaust - $482
Hey all,
Just figured I would save everyone lots of time and hell, and post my findings... Long story short, my truck has a performance header on it (pacesetter medium i believe) I need to pass smog, and my truck currently has 2 cats, and a muffler.... Everything was so clogged, that when I fixed an exhaust leak, the truck had trouble running, untill it belched half a pound of carbon out of the tail pipe, then it ran fine.
So heres my findings on a new exhaust from block to rear bumper:
Midas wanted 800 bucks to do my exhaust, Dealership wanted 2400. I got random quotes from 700 to 1200 from no-name locals.
I then went online to see how much for the parts, thinking I would just get it welded off the truck, and put it on myself...
Found a sweet little setup, all pre bent for my truck, and BOLT ON!!!! no clamps, no welding, no mess... just bolt the stuff on!

If your hangers are busted, you also need these part numbers (which will add to the price)
(4) 528766 hangers and (1) 528870 hanger.
This should all be 100% bolt on for stock exhaust, meaning no welding, no clamps, etc. All should be perfectly pre bent and shaped for a california emissions passing 86 toyota 4runner, I am assuming it will fit other years too... but look into it before you do it. Only thing missing is the o2 sensor (mine I believe to be good so I am not replacing it till I get a chance to test it).
I had a few emails back and forth with maremont, and they seem pretty nice and helpfull (they made sure all the parts were right for my truck).
Kragen ONLY had the cat in stock, everything else was special order (some can only be ordered in store, and not online), and will be arriving in seperate shipments over the next 3 weeks.
Once I get it all, I will try to record it with video or images on my experience of putting it all on and post it here for others to see.
Over all, I got a real good feeling about it...

mine was a lot less piping, but $180 (parts + labor) for cat-back system. standard steel, single US-made muffler. IMO it was a decent deal.
$480 for a header back system with cats isnt bad either though.
