Brake Question
Hi again,
I was reading "What exactly is the towing package for our trucks?" I read what CoedNaked said about brakes.
"There are stock brakes you could probably upgrade to as long as you have 15" rims. You can upgrade your front rotors, calipers, and pads to the SR5 brakes from 89-95 P/U's or 4runners. They were slightly more heavy duty and will make a difference. Check to make sure they will work with yoru master cylinder, etc."
I just wanted to make sure of this fit on my 1988 4runner before I went and bought parts. My brakes are in teribble shape I have to go through and replace everything anyway might as well do a little upgrade, well I'm in there. That and I know where I can get a set of those calipers cheaper than my stock ones.
Thanks,
Jake

Welcome to Yotatech. Tons of 1st gen brake upgrade stuff out there from the dealer, junkyards or aftermarket folks. I would suggest doing some reSEARCHING before taking the plunge. There was a thread on here just this week talking about the same thing.
Go to Pirate4x4.com. Go to the forums. Go to the Toyota 4Runner section and find the STICKY at the top that has the Toyota FAQ thread and open that thread up. Brakes, master cylinders, brake boosters...it is ALL in there. No need to relist it all here...

Hi,
Alright, I found Pirate4x4.com and I'm still confused. I just wanted to know if 1994 4runner brake calipers will fit on a 1988 4runner and if they do, do I have to change rotors too.
Thanks,
Jake
