body swap ??'s

so right now i have std. cab pick-up i am planing on doing a 4.3 swap with some other goodies. my issue is i want more room in my cab. i want to either swap a ext cab or a 4runner body and do the bed mod on it. has any one ever done this kinda swap on a std cab short bed or should i just look for another 4runner or ext cab and swap my gear over.

boy are we on the same page. 4.3 and need more room. Im planning on cuting out the rear of my standard cab and extending it. the lower halve will be new sheet metal worked into the tube bed. the upper halve will be a softtop. so i can take the top off in the summer. im working with a sammie rear seat that fits between the frame rails. its a big project in the makeing. i dont have any pictures just a plan.

I did this to an 88/87, ext cab on shorty frame. I had to move the rear cab mounts back 9", cut off the forward bed mounts. Cut the bed 9". I had to modify the gas tank to fit under the cab. I also had to put a 1" body lift for clearance over the horse collar on the frame. Other than that it was just unbolt and move. Not sure what is different with the 90's generation. Good luck!

Did you make the rock sliders? If not where did you by them? Would you consider making some to make some extra $?

yeah we seem to be running into each other with the same ideas. i like the idea of cutting the back out but that seems like alot more work to cut then just swap a body over. i really like the idea of having 5 seats in the truck and still have a little bed for gas cans and stuff i don t want in the cab with me. and it leaves a lot of room for stereo stuff. and hauling friends around. and the frame already being reforced and haveing my drivetrain lift done already i think it would be the easier way to go plus i like the short wheel base, gives more room on the tight trails of the nw.

that thing is pretty sick man. but i d think i t would get pretty cold in the winter. but that was pretty clean. i d still like the hard cab but being able to pull the top off would be really cool. i think that swaping a 4runner body on it and putting that soft top on it would be really cool to

where is maple valley washington?
