Just wondering if pre 89 truck fenders, grille and hood will fit my 89 4runner? (Both older body style) Thanks alot. Andy

 

yes 100% they will, we did that with my dads old 87 pickup...garage door "fell" on the hood and we went to the junkyard, pulled a hood and drivers fender off a 1st gen 4runner (it hade the 3.0 so,88-89 i belive)

Yeah some yahoo pulled out in front of me last week and "totalled" my runner. The damage was purely cosmetic but the cost to fix it was more than the value of the vehicle...to some book maybe but not to me. SO I am taking a smaller sum of money from his insurance company but keeping the runner and fixing it out of pocket. I love this dam thing!

 

89 trucks are 3gen bodys same as 2nd gen 4runners. unless toyota had 2nd gen trucks untill mid 89 then it wont work

84-88 pickups body parts interchange, 84-89 4runners bodyparts interchange

So I cannot use a fender from say an 87 Pickup on my 89 4runner even though they look identical???? What is different, the bolt pattern?

 

No, you are fine with the 87 stuff on your 89 4Runner. The pickups had the early split to the new design in 89 but the 4Runners stayed the same till the 90 model year.


So:
84-88 pickups front ends = 84-89 4Runner front ends

I thought I read 89 pick up parts - going onto a 89 4 runner . those wont work ....
