Blow by issues
I recently got an 86 toyota pickup with 22re. When I first drove it my dipstick blew out and got oil everywhere. The dipstick was loose so I put some tape near the top so it'd fit a bit more snug but knew that probably wasn't the right fix and would rather not have to worry about it while driving. When I take the oil cap off while idling there is a lot of blow by and oil spurts out and makes a mess. I've replaced the pcv valve and grommet. And took the hose from the pcv valve and put it in a can (as i saw someone reccomend on a forum) then ran the truck and it still blows the dipstick out and has a lot of blow by when I take off the oil cap. I did a compression test and I got 150 on all cylinders give or take about 5. The numbers were all very close. But none below 150. I've read numerous forums and all say it's worn rings or pcv valve. I might be wrong but wouldn't worn rings reflect in the compression test? I'm not sure what else to check I'm not all that familiar with these motors or this issue in general.

the issue is excessive pressure building in the crankcase. once you figure out the cause, you can decide whether it is worth fixing. the last time i experienced blowing the dipstick out, i was in a jeep wrangler with four other guys on our way to daytona from new england for spring break. everytime we started the engine, it would shoot the dipstick up against the hood. we’d open the hood, put the dipstick back, and drive. the hood ended up with a lot of upward dimples in the sheetmetal. we used a lot of oil to get to daytona. once there, the owner of the jeep took it to a shop. turns out one of the pistons had a hole in it, so it needed some major work.
four of us rented a u-haul to get back to new england. the owner, in the coast guard on exteded leave, stayed in daytona until the jeep got fixed.

A leak down test will confirm whether or not there's a concern in the combustion cylinder. Vastly more accurate and informative than a compression test. Some chain parts stores may have one in their loaner program. If not, not that expensive online.
