Blocks and IFS...Kill me now.

Is there any worse possible combination for having absolutely no flex? Blocks in the rear and cranked tbars and stock ifs in the front?

God I can't wait to tear into this and do it right...Anyways here's some amazing flex pictures thanks to the previous owner..

Check out the rear tire off the ground..It's not hanging hardly at all..basically about the same place it would be if it were touching the ground. lol

if you want cheap and stiff-ish, procomp #33311 rear springs (sold as 4-5" lift, realistically, I saw 3) will fit and allow you to lose the blocks (about 110 each side). they're what I have on my 88 4Runner now.
something else to consider... were the shocks replaced to accomodate the lift from the blocks?
unbolting the swaybar will give you a little more flex.

My god. My worn rear leafs (with thick poocomp AAL's) flex 10x that much.. I bet your shocks are too short..

Yea, thats true..the shocks were maxed out.

Check to see if your shocks are limiting down travel, I suspect they are because they limit droop on a stock truck. Blocks wouldn't limit rear droop.

T bar crank does limit IFS travel. Back the T bars off to it sits at stock height (see FSM).

The only reason I haven't uncranked the tbars is because I don't want the front being lower than the rear...Right now, it actually sits almost perfectly even.

After doing a little bit of reading, I may have to give Zuk a call when I have some extra money. He's close too, so that's nice.

Haha...my 86 is just about that bad. I like having 4" blocks in the rear...it makes me feel so cool

No, there isn't a worse combo...you just gotta live with it. lol

oh no... they'd have to go... that's a lot of block...

I'd say 1" er 2" is maybe fine, but above that is where the problems like leafs twisting into a "S" start to come about...

oh but wait, your's has those kicker shocks on it right? that kinda take's the brunt of the twisting force... but I still wouldn't like it...

Abe: What did you do to gain that much room in between bumpstops? When I first glanced at it I thought you trimmed them and didn't think much of it..After looking at it again I noticed you didn't trim them..

LOL...yeah don't worry...I'm not that type of guy. I HATE blocks. I laugh at people with blocks!

It does have those kicker shocks...i bet it still twists like crazy though.

I ridded myself of the 4" blocks and changed the leafs.

I even gave you the part number of the procomp leafs I used....

/me is on a budget

less lift probly due to the weight of the runner vs pickup?

anyways that flex is sad the runner's got potential. i like pro comps too they are cheap but still really nice

idk, i kinda like blocks... at least i do on my 78 GMC... it just looks right for the era that the truck came from... and yes, they are 4 inch blocks on it...

If you wanna go cheap, and know how to weld. Go to the junkyard and pick up a set of 63" chevy's for under $50. Get a u-bolt flip kit, new shocks and get er done!

Thing will ride like caddy and flex like mad.

oh my


i had blocks on my superduty, and every time i hit the throttle in sand or even pavement i cringed, half expecting my blocks to spit out and my axle to fly out the back.i sold the truck before i got around to replacing the rear springs.
blocks and 450 hp are scary. i'll never run blocks on any of my vehicles, even with an anemic 22re under the hood.

My buddy has a lifted ranger with 4" blocks in the back. Actually they appear to be two stacked 2" sets. Wierd blocks that stick out the sides on one side... Everytime he goes from a stop the whole shibang just flexes back and forth, and he only has 200hp! Blocks are just freaky!
