if i were you, while ur doin the rebuild and got stuff off, why don't ya replace the water pump and belts and hoses. Think about all the easy stuff too, so you don't have to go diggin back into your engine a couple thou down the road to do something that would be so simple later on.
And while your at it, time yourself and make a vid of changin the belts, so that you have the fastest time on record of changin your belts. I regret not taking a vid of my time... 2 minutes and 15 seconds xD

the LCE master kit comes with a new water pump, and I'm going to keep this one as a spare that was on the motor, cause I put it on the truck not long after I got it
but yeah the lower hose looks like it was stating to expand some and feels a little soft, and the alt and AC belt looks a little glazed like they've been slipping, so all that's getting replaced
I don't know if I'll time myself though, lmao

I think the '88 4runner I had for a while had more oil and grit on the block then yours. I couldnt even touch the block it was so thick...and frozen. lawl.

didn't get as much done today as yesterday, but I feel that I knocked out the most agrivating disassembly portion anyhow; the intake manifold
and it looks like I've got a LOT mor cleaning to do
peaking inside
and so for tonight she sits:
and my pile'O'parts is growing...
at this point, I'm just ready to have clean parts to put back together, lol

How far you going with this? I'd have that engine out asap. Just pull all the wires and tubes off and yank that sumbich out. Easier to get to all that stuff with it out.

and it doesn't look like I'll be able to borrow my buddy's till this weekend (he's using it to drop the 3rd motor in his Heep ), so I'm trying to get ahead and just remove everything accept the block and head, so with I lift those out, all that I need to do is separate them, pull the pistons out, and get the block and crank to the machine shop I've got a plan here, but it's going to happen veeerrrryyyy slowly, as I'll only have about 2-3 hours a day during the weekdays that I'll be able to wrench on it. And what sux is this thursday I probably wont do any work on it, cause my sister's having a garage sale, which of coarse involvs setting up tables right where my truck currently is
so I have to push it outta the driveway to somewhere for the day... and Friday, my mother's coming into town, and I'm going to hang out with here for an early mother's day, and maybe a little bit of Saturday too... but this weekend, I plan on having the engine pulled

i just dico'ed the 3 plugs from under the truck (the reverse switch, 4wd switch, and O2 sencor), along with the knock sencor, oil pressure sencor, and stater relay wire, and snaked the harness up through the middle of the manifold, then layed it out of the way while I pulled the intake
i have a feeling it's going to get in my way when the time comes to paint the engine bay, but I'll manage

I figured it was. I asked because the ports and valves, especially where the injectors spray, are really damn clean for nearly 330,000. Makes me wonder why so many people need SeaFoam and new injectors.
