I want one... seriously though, a good buddy of mine is considering going with a 454 in his 85 4runner. He's got someone who's gonna sell him a set of rockwells for $250...no joke. He's currently running 38s, 22re, 5 speed and 5.71s and plans to go with 44's for the street and tractor tires for the mud. It's either that, or he's gonna leave it alone and build up a 1947 International Harvester KB1 with a chevy frame and big block. First, we have to figure out how to get it out of the woods. It's been sitting on some of my family's land for at least 30 years. Ah...I can't wait to get to where I have some money to play.
sorry...too much beer

Yeah, I think he's starting to see that he wants to keep something for the rocks, so he's leaning towards the international for the mud. Plus in a way, I'd hate to see him do the runner like that. The way it is now, it gets around 17 mpg with 38's, so it's actually affordable to go play around with. I've actually considered trying to buy it from him so that I'd have something to play with, but it's not the best timing for me to do something like that. (getting married in 5 weeks). Anyway, the old IH would be awesome as a bogger...how many of those do you see around running tractor tires and a big block? Oh, sorry about the beer...I just ran out myself.

Pulled the 3.4 out the other night! should have a 4.3 in the next few weeks in there. 3.4 has been to much hassle with electronics and since where wheelin I would like not to have to deal with it as much.

Just like it goes. try one thing it fails so you upgrade

Pics look great I bet that thing is gonna haul ass

We will both be on the trails soon

i very hope so my wallet is getting very thin i drove the truck last night dam there no lack of power just lack of traction and i really need a couple additional gears really with havin the 538 gears but you lose 1 to have the other i agree less wireing is a good thing it will be easier to fix on the trails good luck with the motor swap the best part of it is when you see it in the truck and you get real motivated to finish it

Thats for sure. Its a great feeling to have it in there. Plus everyone has the parts even on the trail unlike the toyota motor which takes at least a week to get. The 4.3 has more power too

Sweet to here you drove it. I can amagine the traction loss
