best mud mod

but i dont plan on going into any mudholes that are 8ft deep. im talking just some mud u can throw up.and iv had personal experiance with a jacked f250 and a first time mudder. i went straight through a line and he tried to follow. took 3 guys in jeeps and another f250 to pull him out, lol.

exactly what im saying. driver skill and experiance is what is most important. take a driver with the skill to drive a stock 2wd through mud and put him in a locked 4wd on big mudders, and watch out if ur on the far side of that mud pit. hes comin through. anyways, on topic, lockers, tires-which is more important? i know lockers are cheaper than a lift to fit bigger tires and the tires. last time i looked lockers were about 200-300, right?

it's 50/50. I've seen morons with both axles locked get stuck and I've driven past them in the same pit with open diffs. Skill plays a much bigger part. Knowing when to mash the pedal and when not to is also important. Knowing a thing or two about physics helps. 2wd and mud is a bad idea but you'll learn. 1 locked axle can only get you so far. i wouldnt waste any more money on a 2wd, i'd just go out and buy a 4wd if I were you. and when you do, put lockers and tires and call it good

thing is, my trucks got less than 100 thous miles on it. it will last for a little while. i plan on making it through college and startin a life with it. however, i plan on having some fun with it while i can. so, i figure spending 200 on lockers, maybe 120 on a body lift, thats not too bad to have some fun in and, btw, i payed nothnig for this vehicle.

Not to bash anybody but I still do not get and will never get why people build up their 2wd vehicles for offroading (esp mudding), only to then want a 4wd vehicle because they realize how much more they could be doing. Why not just start with a 4wd?

and has it ever occured that maybe some people like the car they have, have a special bond there? lol. as lame as it sounds, i like my truck and wouldnt want to trade it for another truck. it would take too long to figure that all out again. and i can have plenty of fun in my 2wd. thanks for the input, but leave it at what to do for the 2wd. and i dont have the money for a new to me truck anyways. sellings not an option. i live with what im given.

It'll cost you @ 1k to make it halfway decent offroad, take that money and buy a junker 4x4 so that you can go farther and still have grammys truck in pristine condition.

i second that and dijlop lockers on a 2wd wont do as much as you think it will.its not like your truck will magically become 4wd(sorry if that sounds mean but i dont want you to waste your money man)............... i say save up for a little while buy a junker 4x4 and kill it have fun

if were talkin about a real special bond and really like wheelin. There are plenty of trucks converted to 4wd and sas'd its a lotta work and a lotta money but if ur willing it will be worth it. I have a good friend with a 91 that started as a 2wd and is now on 37's locked and is amazing in the mud.

2wd truck will not do nearly as well as a 4x4 offroad, even with lockers, tires and lift..it just wont.
I never understand why a person would even try, b/c its not gonna help you. Buy a 4wd truck..

Here in Arkansas muddin' is even done with front wheel drive. Sometimes front wheel drive can get around better than rear wheel drive. I had a VW camper van than could climb hills...even with some mud. But, muddin' isn't about what's proper. It's about having fun....even if you ARE going to stuck. And since you probably will, have a buddy on hand with a 4x4 or a wench. Even a come-a-long, if nothing else. (Though, that is a lot of work for just having fun.)
Just lock it, put some good M/T's in the rear, and throw some sand bags in the bed. Don't need big tires or a lift, just be somewhat reasonable about the terrain. And my god, have fun. But, don't let grandma see the aftermath.
