Battery Questions for 2nd Gen... whats the largest...?

Does anybody know what "series" or "group" battery the stock 2nd Gen 4Runnert takes?

But here is the real question. Does anybody know what the largest group/series you can reasonably fit in these trucks? I'm having a difficult time finding definitive answer on this. I'm wanting the biggest batt. I can stuff in there, but if the stock size is best, I'll use that.

Thanks

What are you trying to accomplish? Biggest as in size or CCA?

Size. Because I'm most concerned for getting the most amp hour capacity for running accessories like lights, compressor, winch, fridge.

Thanks for the requesting the clarification.

might want to look at the "big 3" upgrade on your grounding system, also. I'm running a redtop that was the highest amp battery I could get to buffer the wimpy stock alternator. Was concerned with winch demands, really have to watch voltmeter as it'll suck the juice right out of the battery with the engine running.

Can't say on physical size, measure area and compare I guess. Or find a box about the same size as battery you looking at. Hope it helps some.

CCA don't do anything for long lasting. They give you fast burst for starting. Regular batteries have several of thin plates that let a lot of current flow fast, for starting. Deep cycle batteries have fewer, thicker plates for slow long lasting drain.

I installed a dual system that has my lights, DVD/Nav, Air Pump and amps on my second deep cycle. It is controlled by a constant heavy duty 85amp "Cole Hersse" solenoid. Engine and starts use engine compartment battery, all the rest uses the rear deep cycle.

I'm running a Group 27 Marine/Start battery from Costco, and I'd be surprised if you could fit anything larger. BARELY squeezes in there.

I've got a 1000 CCA Maxx-1 battery from WalMart; NEVER let's me down & I've found them to last on average about 7 years....they have an 8 year warranty! I'm also running a 135 amp alternator.

I had a stock alternator redone by Boyle Future Technology in CA.

why not just run it two in series? locate them to the back. I run red top optima's in all my vehicles. Yellow top marine optima's I think last longer. The flight deck fire trucks I maintened on a carrier we ran red's but consistenly had problems, got yellow tops in and no more problems. Reds always seemed to not hold amperage as long.

the biggest batt that i had in my yota came out of a 1997 ford f150 it was so big that the A/C hoses held it in from the sides and the front brace that the head light was in kept it from going forward and the hold down kept the back of the batt from moving it was a very tight fit and it started the truck very easily just a bump of the key and it would start

You can get the dimensions of the various Odyssey batteries. Why not just measure the available space in your truck and pick the largest Odyssey that fits, or that the truck can be modified to fit.
