Ball Joints & Tie Rod Ends

Looking for some opinions. I will soon be doing some major work on the front end of my 94' Runner. I will be adding BJ spacers. At the same time while I am down there I will be replacing both CV shafts. And when it all goes back together I am replacing my ADD hubs with stock manual hubs. And since I am going to have all of this stuff in pieces I am redoing the front brakes as well. So my question is I have found a front end set,

# 2 Lower Ball Joints.
# 2 Upper Ball Joints.
# 2 Inner Tie Rod Ends.
# 2 Outer Tie Rod Ends.
# 2 Adjusting Sleeves.
# 1 Pitman Arm.
# 1 Idler Arm

for what seems a decent price, under $250, should I add this to my list of things to do. Is it worth it while I have all of the rest pulled apart or do you think it's too much? Also as I am new to my Runner is there anything else I might want to change while I am there? Somewhere before or during I am also going to rebuild the steering gear box.

Thanks for all advice

How many miles do you have on the rig?

I pretty much did all that stuff when I did mine except the pitman and sleeves but mine had 230k on an 86. You may not need all that stuff. Check the condition of your control arm bushings too. Mine were actually in pretty good shape except for one that was shot completely so I ended up just doing them all. I mostly did everything cuz it was all old and I didn't want to worry about anything under there plus I didn't want to have to pay for another alignment if something failed 2-3 mo down the line. Plus it gave me a chance to take everything apart and clean/sand/paint/lube it all. Probably wasn't really necessary though.

The idler arm will probably need replacing soon then...mine went out at 126k. I would go ahead and do all of that, seeing as how you will be doing the work yourself and only paying for parts...you'll be able to get to know you're Runner a lot better and get all of those things out of the way so you'll have smooth sailing down the road.

are they OEM parts?

for that price, i am guessing they are aftermarket parts...if so, i wouldn't do it, personally.

if they are OEM parts, then, heck ya...

I put an aftermarket idler arm on my 2nd gen, I figured with a lifetime warranty and being as simple as calling the place I got it and asking for a new one and sending the old one off the to factory was no big deal at all.

Other than that my 2nd gen was completely stock, but I figured, what is there to lose?
