ball joint spacers and cv joints

alright. im starting to find it hard to believe that if you put the ball joint spacer on your truck you wont have cv shaft issues. i know a guy that has his torsion bars cranked all the way up and pretty much every time he puts it in fourwheeldrive he tears a boot so how is adding an inch and a half not goin to tear a boot?

If you crank the torsion bars all the way up, you will get more then 1.5" of lift. More like 2.5". 1.5" is about the max you want to go, after that you start to tear cv boots like that guy you are talking about.

I have used 4wd many many times with my bj spacers, no problems

i've got about 25-30 4x4 trips with my set up (bj spacers/ OME torsions relaxed for more flex) with no cv problems at all and i beat on my truck-

the more you crank the torsions the less flex you will have

yeah i know about the flex part but i dont really get a chance to do trails and thing often in my truck. so its more of a mud thing. and it is a daily driver so sort of a mall cruiser. i just hate changing cv boots... does anyone have any secrets on how to change them that could possibly be easier than the way i do it?

not exactly a tip to make it quicker, but something I do on every cv I've built-
make sure you burp as much of the air out as possible and don't stretch the boot up the shaft any farther than necessary to get it to seal.
and do not use the one-piece bolt together quick change boots.

Here is one place:

And a few things you can do to prolong CV boot life:

1. Run manual hubs (if you don't already have them), as you can unlock the front hubs and that keeps the CVs from constantly spinning and wearing the boots out.

2. If possible, keep the lift height down so that the ribs of the CV boots are not touching as they rotate. The more ribs that are touching on top means more likely for them to wear as they rub past each other, especially with grit and dirt on the boots.

3. Run a front differential drop kit to lower the angles on the CVs if needed:
