I've traced the start-up problems on my 92 3vz to possibly a bad igniter. I have fuel in the cylinder, but no spark, and everything but the igniter checks out.

Anyone ever heard of an igniter going bad? I pulled it out about a year ago when I started all the work I've been doing - worked fine before and now it may be to blame for my startup issues.

What do you think? Should I grab a new one or keep looking for another source?

I was having vapor lock type symptons, replaced the ignitor and no more...

Apparently, it is VERY common on the Camry 3VZFE...

igniters do go bad from time to time yes

Mine was replaced early this year, with about 156K miles on it.

After working at the dealership for 3 years. I have seen 3 go bad. So yes, they do go bad.

we sell quite a few of those ignitors at our wrecking yard. The ignitors do go bad.
