Any recommendations on what type of adhesive I should use to reinstall my sliding window frame on my 89 4 runner hard top?

Typically butyl substances are used when bonding materials with dissimilar expansion rates like this.. Glass to metal, fiberglass to metal etc.

Sliding windows

I did mine recently and found some butyl tape at an rv store. It is 3/4 inch wide by 1/8 inch thick. It is too wide so I cut it in half with scissors and used it that way. I first tried 1/4 inch round butyl but could not compress it enough to install the interior pieces.
